It’s a bit cheeky saying this is part of the WordPress course, as my parting word of advice on blogging doesn’t really deal with WordPress – rather it tells you how to keep up to date with all the blogs you read without getting swamped!

When you publish a post to your blog, it automatically goes at the top of the page. This is really helpful, as visitors see the most recent thing you have posted, but what if you wanted to keep an item near the top of a page? Or what if you wanted to create separate areas in your blog for different things? You may for example wish a different section for each class you have in your school, or each stage you teach. You can manage this simply using ‘Pages’ in WordPress.

Tutorial: WordPress Lesson 09

Adding links into your site is an easy process. This lesson will cover adding links as both text and images, and also managing a ‘blogroll’. For those slightly troubled by this term, a blogroll is simply a list of other sites that you are recommending to your visitors.

I can’t stress the importance of links enough to people. Creating links provides additional information for your readers, but it can also help you create a community. By linking out to other people’s sites, you’ll usually get a link back in return. This can help bring traffic to your site.
