Just on this issue Kenneth - it didn't just cost the UK tax payer - it cost the TV licence payer - which is a bit of a double edged sword in my mind. I have a sister that doesn't have a TV - therefore doesn't pay a licence. She does have broadband though, so should she have wished, she could have looked at the BBC resources - yet she didn't pay for them.

I on the other hand pay Sky for my television service. No pictures are received in my property by a conventional ariel, yet I still have to have a TV licence. It would be a really easy process for Sky to prevent my box from receiving BBC channels, or them handling the BBC <strike>tax</strike> licence fee (as they did when they introduced a broadband service by paying BT the line rental costs).

If the choice was have my licence fee back, or have educational resources that anyone could use, then keep my money - I'd rather be educated than rich.

Whilst I agree that this resource should stay in the public domain there is one issue I would like to comment on. BBC Jam is not a free resource it cost the UK tax payers over £150 million. As I tax payer I want it back!
