A wee lesson in history -
I start a website, as I want somewhere to update people of my activities and any possible resources that I might have to share. I end up with the ridiculous URL ‘whereisab’, as the point of the website is to tell folks in Argyll & Bute where I am, and what I’m up to.
I then realise it would be much better to have some conversation in the site, so I set up a blog with blogger. Using laughable skills at the time in Dreamweaver, I realise it’s possible to drag this into a frameset and make it look part of my site.
Over time, I’ve changed the way it looks, and I’ve changed the platform for blogging, but things just keep moving on, don’t they?
Yesterday I decided to take the plunge into the even smaller world of ‘Twitter’ – I’ve been reading about this for months now, but to be honest I wasn’t sure of the value of it.
But I’ll come back to my history lesson – I started a site to update people about where I was, and what I was up to. The fact that you can now do this from the comfort of your own phone seems to be a great bonus, and not have to spend time composing a blog post – or worse still, not blog because you don’t feel you have anything of great interest or value to say.
I’m going to have to spend time thinking about how blogging and twittering relate, but for now if you’re interested you can find me on Twitter too?
